Wall Tilt Angle (Plumb) Calculator

Measure deviation, confirm plumb, and reduce rework. See angle, mm per meter, and pass status. Download neat summaries for supervisors, clients, and auditors today.

Calculator

Large screens: 3 columns. Smaller: 2. Mobile: 1.
Inputs accept decimals and commas.
All entered lengths use the selected unit.
Vertical height from base reference to top.
Horizontal offset at the measured point.
Use if deviation is measured below full height.
Adds context to reports; no effect on math.
Set a limit to get PASS/FAIL.
Compares against computed mm per meter.
Uses your selected unit (same as D).

Formula Used

This calculator treats the wall as a right triangle where the vertical leg is the measurement length L, and the horizontal leg is the deviation D.

How to Use This Calculator

  1. Select your unit and enter the wall height H.
  2. Measure the horizontal deviation D from a plumb line or laser.
  3. If you measured below full height, enter the measurement length L; otherwise leave it blank.
  4. Optional: enter tolerances (max angle, mm/m, or offset) to get a PASS/FAIL check.
  5. Press Calculate. Use the download buttons in the result area for reports.

Example Data Table

Sample cases for typical wall checks (illustrative only).

Wall height (mm) Deviation (mm) Angle (deg) Deviation rate (mm/m) Plumb ratio (1 in N)
3000 6 0.1146 2.0000 1 in 500
3200 12 0.2149 3.7500 1 in 266.67
4500 20 0.2546 4.4444 1 in 225
Tip: A quick field rule is mm/m ≈ deviation divided by height in meters.
Built for practical inspection notes and construction reporting.
