Formula Used

  • Rectangle: Area = L × W
  • Circle: Area = π × (D/2)²
  • Annulus: Area = π × (Do/2)² − π × (Di/2)²
  • Triangle: Area = ½ × Base × Height
  • Trapezoid: Area = ½ × (a + b) × Height
  • Custom Area: Use entered area directly
  • Volume (m³): Area (m²) × Depth (m)
  • Waste factor: Volume × (1 + Waste%)
  • Compaction factor: Volume × Compaction
  • Unit conversions: 1 m³ = 35.3147 ft³ = 1.30795 yd³ = 1000 L
  • Weight: Mass = Density × Volume. Density presets selectable below.

How to Use

  1. Choose your length and depth units.
  2. Add one or more beds; pick a shape and enter dimensions.
  3. Set waste allowance, compaction, density, bag size, and truck capacity.
  4. Press Calculate to see totals in multiple units.
  5. Export the results as CSV or print/save as a PDF.

FAQs

For typical beds, 5–10% covers spillage and uneven surfaces. Complex borders or rough grading may need 10–15%.

Soil settles after placement. A compaction factor > 1.0 increases ordered volume to account for settlement.

Enter a per-bag volume in liters or cubic feet. The tool divides required volume by bag volume and rounds up.

Loose topsoil ≈ 1000 kg/m³, loam ≈ 1200 kg/m³, moist clay ≈ 1400 kg/m³. Ask suppliers for exact values.

Yes. Use the “Custom Area” shape to input an area directly in your selected length unit squared.
