Result N: eq/L
Formula Used

Normality N measures equivalents of solute per liter of solution.

  • N = equivalents / liters, where equivalents depend on the reaction.
  • Acid–base: N = M × n, with n the number of replaceable H+ or OH.
  • From mass: equivalents = mass / equivalent weight; then divide by liters.
  • For redox, n equals the electrons exchanged per mole of reagent.

Units: eq/L. Ensure volume is total solution volume.
