1) Why do EVs depreciate differently from gas vehicles?
Battery condition, charging technology changes, incentives on new models, and warranty confidence often shift used EV pricing faster than many gas vehicles.
2) Does battery health really affect resale value?
Yes. Lower battery health can reduce range confidence, increase buyer caution, and push resale prices down, especially once warranty coverage becomes limited.
3) Should incentives reduce the depreciation base?
Usually yes for ownership analysis. Incentives lower your effective cost basis, so the calculator treats them as reducing your starting investment.
4) What does the salvage floor do?
It sets a practical minimum value. This prevents long forecasts from collapsing to unrealistically tiny resale numbers.
5) Why is mileage included separately from age?
Two EVs with the same age may have very different wear. Higher mileage usually means more battery cycles and lower buyer appeal.
6) What is the technology risk premium?
It represents pressure from newer battery chemistry, range improvements, charging upgrades, or shifting buyer preferences that can weaken used values.
7) Why does resale fee matter?
Marketplaces, dealers, and auction channels often keep a percentage. Gross vehicle value and your net proceeds are not the same.
