Formula Used

This calculator supports two approaches. In manual mode, you enter shares that sum to 100%. In modeled mode, it uses a multinomial logit structure with a generalized cost.

Generalized Cost (per mode):
GC_i = (w_T·Time_i) + (w_C·Cost_i) + (w_E·Emissions_i) − (w_V·Convenience_i)
Mode Share (modeled):
Share_i = exp(−λ·GC_i) / Σ exp(−λ·GC_k) × 100
Trips by Mode: Trips_i = TotalTrips × Share_i/100
Total Capacity: CapacityTotal_i = Trips_i × CapacityPerTrip_i
Weighted Average Time: AvgTime = Σ(Trips_i·Time_i) / TotalTrips

Notes: Keep all costs in the same currency and all emissions in kg CO2 per trip. If a mode is not used, set its manual share to 0% or give it high generalized cost.
