Network Slicing Resource Calculator

Right-size private networks for complex job sites. Balance video, IoT, and control traffic across slices. Get clear allocations, costs, and capacity headroom instantly here.

Calculator Inputs
Use slice rows to model job-site traffic classes and priorities.
Tip: keep overhead 10–20% for growth.
Raw capacity before reserve and utilization.
Edge apps, UPF, analytics, or controllers.
Shared RAM for compute workloads.
Recordings, logs, and model artifacts.
Engineering reserve, control overhead, growth.
Avoid designing at 100% sustained load.
Applies to minima (and critical boost).
Used to estimate memory from compute allocation.
How remaining capacity is distributed after minima.

Slice List
Add slices for video, IoT, control, or back-office traffic.
Slice name Profile Demand (Mbps) Priority (1–10) Min BW Max BW vCPU / 100 Mbps Storage (GB) Critical Notes
Cost Settings
Optional rates for quick budgeting.
leave zeros to skip
Costs are computed as: (BW×rate + vCPU×rate + Mem×rate + Storage×rate) × (1+contingency). Set all rates to 0 for allocation-only mode.
Max BW set to 0 means “no cap”. Critical slices get a small safety boost.

Formula Used
This calculator uses a practical planning model for allocating shared capacity.
1) Effective capacity
Effective = Total × (1 − Overhead%) × Utilization%
Overhead covers reserve, signaling, growth, and design buffer.
2) Bandwidth distribution
Scoreᵢ = Priorityᵢ × (Demandᵢ × Redundancy × CriticalBoost)
BWᵢ = MinBWᵢ + Remaining × Scoreᵢ / ΣScore
MinBW is applied first; MaxBW caps allocation if set.
3) Compute & memory estimates
vCPUᵢ = BWᵢ / 100 × (vCPU per 100 Mbps)ᵢ
Memᵢ = vCPUᵢ × (Memory per vCPU)
If totals are exceeded, allocations are scaled proportionally.
4) Cost estimate (optional)
Costᵢ = (BW×Rate + vCPU×Rate + Mem×Rate + Storage×Rate)
Costᵢ = Costᵢ × (1 + Contingency%)
Use any currency; keep rates at zero to skip.
How to Use This Calculator
  1. Enter total capacities for bandwidth, compute, memory, and storage.
  2. Set overhead and utilization to reflect planning buffers.
  3. Add slices for your traffic classes (video, IoT, control).
  4. Assign priorities and minima to protect critical workloads.
  5. Click Calculate to view allocations and headroom.
  6. Download CSV/PDF to attach results to design packages.
