Power Demand Estimate Calculator

Turn equipment lists into dependable power demand numbers. Adjust diversity, losses, and future growth quickly. Get kW, kVA, and amps for your build scope.

Inputs
Enter loads, factors, and supply details.
Use density for early-stage planning.
Typical planning range: 15–80 W/m² (varies by building).
If set, overrides equipment list sum.
Used per item if item factor is blank.
Accounts for non-simultaneous operation.
Peak overlap timing between loads.
Use lower values for older equipment/UPS paths.
Covers uncertainty, temperature, and staging.

Example Data Table

Formula Used
1) Connected Load
Connected (kW) = Σ[ Qty × Unit(W) × (Duty%/100) × ItemDF ] / 1000
2) Apply simultaneity
Base (kW) = Connected(kW) × Diversity × Coincidence
3) Losses + efficiency
kW' = Base × (1 + Losses%/100) × (100 / Efficiency%)
4) Add margins
Demand (kW) = kW' × (1 + Expansion%/100) × (1 + Safety%/100)
5) Convert to kVA and Current
kVA = kW / PF
3φ A = (kVA×1000)/(√3×V) · 1φ A = (kVA×1000)/V
How to Use This Calculator
  1. Pick an estimation mode: equipment list or area density.
  2. Enter supply details (phase, voltage) and power factor.
  3. Add equipment rows with realistic duty and item factors.
  4. Set diversity and coincidence for peak overlap behavior.
  5. Add losses, efficiency, expansion, and safety margin.
  6. Press Estimate Demand to view results above.
  7. Use CSV/PDF buttons to export saved history.
Tip: Start conservative, then refine as schedules finalize.
