Formula used
Let N be the numeric value after accounting for the input unit, and let B be the number of “billions” returned.
- Short scale: one billion =
10^9. So,B = N / 1,000,000,000. - Long scale: one billion =
10^12. So,B = N / 1,000,000,000,000.
When the input unit itself is billion or trillion, its magnitude depends on the selected scale. Rounding is applied at the final step per your chosen mode and decimal places.
