Formula Used

1. Skill Fit = min(100, Current Skill ÷ Target Skill × 100)

This measures how close your present capability is to the role requirement.

2. Readiness Index = weighted average of Skill Fit, Networking, Portfolio, Market Alignment, Mentor Support, Learning Capacity, Budget Capacity, Application Capacity, and Stage Fit.

Higher values indicate stronger immediate readiness for the next role.

3. Difficulty Points = (Skill Gap × 0.90) + (Stage Gap × 14) + ((100 − Market Alignment) × 0.15) + ((100 − Portfolio) × 0.10)

This estimates how demanding the transition is.

4. Progress Capacity = 4 + (Learning Score × 0.05) + (Mentor Support × 0.03) + (Networking × 0.015) + (Budget Score × 0.01) + (Application Capacity × 0.015)

This reflects the pace you can realistically maintain each month.

5. Estimated Timeline = ceiling(Difficulty Points ÷ Progress Capacity)

This gives the approximate number of months for the roadmap.

Frequently Asked Questions

1. What does the Readiness Index mean?

It summarizes how prepared you are for the target role using skill fit, portfolio strength, networking, learning capacity, and career support inputs.

2. Why does the timeline change so much?

Timeline depends on gap size and execution capacity. Bigger skill gaps or weaker proof of work lengthen the roadmap, while steady effort shortens it.

3. Should I enter perfect scores?

No. Honest inputs make the roadmap useful. Inflated scores usually create overly optimistic timelines and weak action plans.

4. What counts as portfolio proof?

Projects, measurable outcomes, case studies, promotions, certifications, presentations, Git repositories, and leadership stories can all strengthen your proof score.

5. Can this help with internal promotions?

Yes. Replace applications with internal outreach, project visibility, manager alignment, and promotion conversations to model an internal growth path.

6. How often should I recalculate?

Monthly is practical. Recalculate after completing projects, improving skills, adding mentors, or increasing interview and networking activity.

7. Does budget matter a lot?

Budget matters less than consistency, but it can speed up learning through coaching, courses, tools, or certification access.

8. Is this a guaranteed prediction?

No. It is a structured planning model, not a promise. Real outcomes still depend on performance, timing, opportunities, and decision quality.
