FAQs
1. What does this calculator measure?
It measures how long someone has worked in a role using start and end dates. It also shows adjusted totals, business day estimates, milestone dates, and resume-friendly tenure wording.
2. Can I calculate tenure for a current job?
Yes. Check the current employment box and the calculator uses today as the reference date. This is useful for resumes, appraisals, promotion reviews, and interview preparation.
3. Why would I exclude leave days?
Exclude unpaid leave, career breaks, or service gaps when you want an adjusted tenure figure. This helps produce a more precise service length for internal policies or reporting.
4. What is the difference between exact tenure and decimal years?
Exact tenure shows calendar years, months, and days. Decimal years converts the full period into a single number, which is often easier for analytics, comparisons, and threshold checks.
5. How are business days estimated?
The tool multiplies total calendar days by your selected working days per week, then divides by seven. It is an estimate, not a holiday-specific payroll calculation.
6. Can this help with resume writing?
Yes. The calculator creates a shorter resume-style tenure value, such as 2 yr 4 mos. That format is easy to reuse in job applications and profile summaries.
7. What milestone dates are included?
It shows the 90-day milestone, six-month point, one-year mark, and the next anniversary for current roles. These dates support reviews, confirmation periods, and promotion planning.
8. What do the CSV and PDF buttons export?
The CSV button downloads your entered data and calculated outputs in spreadsheet format. The PDF button saves the visible result summary as a shareable document.
