Ripple factor is calculated from output RMS and average voltage. Source current and power factor are engineering estimates based on the chosen model assumptions.
It estimates average output voltage, RMS output voltage, current, power, ripple factor, delay time, and basic source-side values for common single-phase converter topologies.
The tool includes a half-wave controlled rectifier, full-wave diode bridge, semi-converter, and full converter. These cover many basic teaching, design, and checking tasks.
A diode bridge does not use gate-triggered switching like an SCR converter. Its conduction is set by source polarity and load path, so alpha does not apply there.
Use back EMF when modeling a motor or similar load in continuous-current converter modes. It helps estimate average current more realistically for controlled rectifier applications.
No. The calculator uses idealized formulas and selected assumptions. Real systems may differ because of overlap, device drops, filter effects, commutation limits, and nonideal loads.
It means the chosen back EMF is higher than the converter’s average applied voltage under that setting. In practice, that suggests no forward rectification or possible inversion behavior.
Half-wave operation produces one output pulse per source cycle. Full-wave and bridge-based modes produce two output pulses per cycle, so ripple frequency doubles.
Yes. After calculation, you can download a CSV summary or create a PDF of the result section, including the main output values and waveform chart.
