FAQs

1) Why does the planner split one task into several blocks?

Splitting keeps each work session focused and trackable. It also reduces fatigue, creates natural review points, and makes it easier to fit lunch, buffers, and client calls into your day.

2) What does “context switch penalty” mean?

It represents the mental reset time when changing task types. The planner inserts short transition blocks so your schedule stays realistic and you avoid squeezing focus work too tightly.

3) How is billable time calculated?

Only focus blocks tied to tasks marked billable are counted. Breaks, transitions, lunch, buffers, and wrap-up are excluded, so the estimate stays closer to what you can invoice.

4) What if I’m overbooked?

Reduce task minutes, raise block length to lower break overhead, or extend your day. You can also move lower-priority items to tomorrow and keep today’s plan achievable.

5) How do deep work and admin windows help?

When a window is active, tasks of that type are favored. This clusters similar work together, reduces switching, and helps you protect high-energy hours for creative output.

6) Why add a flex buffer?

Freelance work often includes unexpected messages, revisions, and fixes. A buffer absorbs surprises, helping you finish core tasks without pushing important work into late hours.

7) Can I plan an overnight shift?

Yes. If your end time is earlier than your start time, the planner treats it as finishing the next day. This is useful for night projects or time-zone aligned client work.

8) Is the PDF export compatible with most viewers?

Yes. The export creates a simple, single-page PDF with your summary and schedule lines. For very long schedules, it truncates extra lines to keep the output readable.
