Formula used

1) Convert strength to a usable factor

The calculator converts label strength into grams of active ingredient per gram or per milliliter of product. When you use %, it is treated as weight-based, and density helps convert between grams and milliliters.

2) Active ingredient total

AI_total (g) = Product_amount × Strength_factor

  • If strength is %: Strength_factor = (% / 100) (g AI per g product).
  • If strength is g/L: Strength_factor = g/L ÷ 1000 (g AI per mL product).
  • If strength is mg/mL: Strength_factor = mg/mL ÷ 1000 (g AI per mL product).
  • If strength is lb/gal: converted to g/L using standard factors.
3) Rate on area

AI_rate (g/m²) = AI_total (g) ÷ Area (m²)

The calculator also reports kg/ha and g/1000 ft² using unit conversions.

4) Required product for a target rate

AI_needed (g) = Target_rate (g/m²) × Area (m²)
Required_product = AI_needed ÷ Strength_factor

This is useful when you know the label rate but need the product dose.
