Algaecide Dose Calculator

Measure volume, choose algaecide type, then calculate dose. Adjust for strength differences and treatment goals. Download CSV or PDF to track routine pond care.

Calculator Inputs

Enter pond, tank, or feature water volume.
Conversions are handled automatically.
Presets are typical guidance. Labels differ by brand.
Maintenance usually uses a lower rate.
Optional for strength matching.
If set, dose scales by target/product strength.
Use 1.00 for label-rate calculations.
Choose how you want the dose displayed.
Controls the displayed precision.
Custom Rate (only used when “Custom rate” is selected)
Enter the exact label rate for your product to improve accuracy.
Example: 6 fl oz per 10,000 gal, or 150 mL per 1,000 L.
If your label rate differs, prefer the label and custom rate.

Example Data Table

# Water Volume Type Goal Strength Match Safety Estimated Dose (US fl oz)
1 10,000 US gal Polyquat 60 Maintenance Target 60% / Product 60% 1.00 5.00
2 12,500 US gal Quaternary ammonium Initial Not used 1.00 10.00
3 20,000 L Copper-based Maintenance Target 60% / Product 30% 0.90 3.22
4 8 m³ Custom rate Initial Not used 1.10 5.62
Example doses are illustrative. Always confirm your label’s rate and constraints.

Formula Used

The calculator converts your water volume into liters, then applies a dosing rate expressed as mL per liter.

  • WaterLiters = convert(volume, unit → liters)
  • BaseDose_mL = WaterLiters × Rate_mL_per_L
  • StrengthFactor = TargetStrength ÷ ProductStrength (only when Target Strength is provided)
  • FinalDose_mL = BaseDose_mL × StrengthFactor × SafetyFactor
  • FinalDose = convert(FinalDose_mL → chosen output unit)
Strength matching helps when guidance assumes one concentration but your bottle differs. If unsure, leave Target Strength blank and follow the label.

How to Use This Calculator

  1. Measure water volume or estimate from dimensions.
  2. Select an algaecide type and your treatment goal.
  3. If your product label rate differs, choose “Custom rate”.
  4. Optionally match strength when concentrations differ.
  5. Set a safety factor for sensitive ponds or fish.
  6. Press Calculate, then download CSV or PDF if needed.
