Calculator
Enter your surface areas, coverage rate, and additive settings.

Surface zones

Name Area * Unit
Enter a positive area.
Coats must be 1–10.
Use the coating label value for your surface.
%
Typical: 5–12% for edges and overlaps.
Affects recommended additive intensity.
Broadcast methods usually waste more material.
Choose based on comfort, wear, and cleaning needs.
Start points: 60–120 g/L (mix-in), 2–6 oz/gal (broadcast).
g/mL
Only used when rate unit is mL/L.
g/mL
Typical water-based coatings are near 1.05–1.20 g/mL.
Used to estimate how many packages to buy.
Your results remain accurate regardless of display.
Used for cost display only.
If display is liters, enter per liter; if gallons, per gallon.
Multiply automatically by packages needed.

Example data table

Scenario Area Finish Coats Rate Coating (approx.) Additive (approx.)
Stone path sealer 18 m² Medium 2 80 g/L 4.7 L 0.52 kg
Timber deck topcoat 220 ft² Fine 2 2.5 oz/gal 1.0 gal 0.12 kg
Concrete steps high-grip 12 m² Coarse 3 4% by weight 5.9 L 0.34 kg
Examples are illustrative; always follow the coating label limits.

Formula used

  • Total area (m²) = sum of zone areas (converted).
  • Base coating (L) = (area ÷ coverage) × coats.
  • Coating with waste = base × (1 + waste%).
  • Effective additive rate = rate × finish multiplier × method multiplier.
  • Total additive (g) = effective rate (g/L) × coating (L).
  • Packages = ceil(total additive ÷ package size).

How to use this calculator

  1. Add one row per surface zone and enter its area.
  2. Set coats and coverage rate from your coating label.
  3. Pick finish level and method to match desired traction.
  4. Enter your additive rate, then press Calculate.
  5. Review results and export with the CSV or PDF buttons.
Safety note: For smooth indoor floors, use purpose-made systems. For gardens and outdoor surfaces, test a small patch first and avoid over-texturing on steep slopes.
