Calculator inputs
All factors multiply into a practical field estimate.
Pick the closest match; fine-tune with factors.
Example: area, plants, meters, or beds.
Keep your base rate in the same unit.
Typical solo pace in easy conditions.
1.00 normal; 1.30 heavy weeds or dense pruning.
1.00 flat; higher for slopes, mud, tight beds.
Heat, wind, wet soil, or cold hands slow work.
Sharp tools and power assist can raise this.
New crew 0.85; practiced crew 1.10.
Bigger crews help, but not perfectly.
Lower means more overlap or coordination delays.
Adds time for rests, refills, and water.
Unload tools, stake lines, mark beds.
Bag waste, rinse tools, tidy pathways.
Protects schedule from surprises and rework.
Notes are included in exports.
Example data table
Task Work Base Rate Factors Crew Estimate
Weeding 60 sq m 12 units/hr Diff 1.15 • Terrain 1.05 • Season 1.10 2 (Team 0.85) ~3h 05m
Planting 80 plants 25 units/hr Diff 1.10 • Terrain 1.00 • Season 1.05 3 (Team 0.80) ~1h 52m
Mulching 45 sq m 10 units/hr Diff 1.20 • Terrain 1.10 • Season 1.10 2 (Team 0.85) ~3h 12m

Examples assume 10 minutes setup, 10 minutes cleanup, 10% breaks, and 10% buffer.

Formula used
1) Base hours (solo, easy conditions)
BaseHours = WorkQuantity ÷ BaseRate
BaseRate is measured in units per hour.
2) Adjust for field conditions and efficiency
AdjustedSolo = (BaseHours × Difficulty × Terrain × Season) ÷ (ToolEff × Experience)
Higher condition factors slow work; higher efficiency speeds it.
3) Add fixed time, breaks, and buffer
WithExtras = (AdjustedSolo + (Setup+Cleanup)/60) × (1+Breaks%) × (1+Buffer%)
Breaks and buffer are applied as multipliers.
4) Apply crew impact with coordination
EffectiveCrew = 1 + (Crew−1) × TeamEff
TotalHours = WithExtras ÷ EffectiveCrew
TeamEff handles overlap and coordination overhead.
How to use this calculator
  1. Choose the task type and measure your work quantity.
  2. Enter a base rate that matches your work unit.
  3. Adjust difficulty, terrain, and season for real conditions.
  4. Set tool and experience factors to reflect your crew.
  5. Add crew size and teamwork efficiency for coordination effects.
  6. Include setup, cleanup, breaks, and a safety buffer.
