Formula Used
This calculator uses a common unit definition where one unit equals 10 ml of pure alcohol. For each drink:
- Pure alcohol (ml) = Serving volume (ml) × ABV ÷ 100 × Quantity
- Units = Serving volume (ml) × ABV ÷ 1000 × Quantity
- Grams ≈ Pure alcohol (ml) × 0.789 (ethanol density)
- Calories ≈ Grams × 7 (alcohol-only energy)
If you enter ounces, the tool converts to ml using 1 fl oz ≈ 29.5735 ml.
How to Use This Calculator
- Add one or more drink entries using Add drink.
- Pick a serving preset or enter a custom volume and unit.
- Enter the drink’s ABV percentage and the quantity you had.
- Optionally set sessions per week for weekly totals.
- Press Calculate to view results above the form.
- Use Download CSV or Download PDF for reports.
Example Data Table

FAQs
1) What are alcohol units?
Units are a way to express pure alcohol content. This calculator treats one unit as 10 ml of pure alcohol, then totals units across drinks.
2) Why do I need ABV?
ABV tells how much alcohol is in the beverage. A higher ABV increases pure alcohol for the same serving size, raising units and grams.
3) Can I enter ounces instead of milliliters?
Yes. Choose oz in the volume unit selector. The tool converts ounces to milliliters before calculating pure alcohol, units, and totals.
4) What does “standard drinks” mean here?
Standard drinks are calculated by dividing alcohol grams by your chosen grams-per-drink setting. Adjust that value to match the standard used in your region.
5) Are the calorie numbers complete?
The calories shown are from alcohol only, using about 7 kcal per gram of ethanol. Mixers and sugars can add extra calories not included here.
6) How is the weekly total calculated?
Weekly units equals the total units for the current entries multiplied by sessions per week. This helps estimate a weekly pattern from a typical session.
7) Can I remove or add drinks after calculating?
Yes. Use Add drink to include more entries or Remove to delete one. Then press Calculate again to refresh results.
8) Is this safe to use for driving decisions?
No. This tool estimates alcohol content, not impairment or legal limits. Never use it to decide if you can drive or operate machinery.
