Formula Used

Raw gap in minutes = Interview 2 Start − Interview 1 End

Interview duration = Interview End − Interview Start

Total process span = Interview 2 End − Interview 1 Start

Business gap = Sum of valid working minutes between both interview events, limited by the selected workday and optional weekend exclusion.

Status rule: positive result means a gap, zero means back-to-back, and negative result means an overlap.

Frequently Asked Questions

1. What does this calculator measure?

It measures the time between two interviews. It also reports interview durations, overlap detection, total span, same-day transition, and a business-hours gap.

2. What happens if interviews overlap?

The calculator flags an overlap instead of a normal gap. This helps recruiting teams spot scheduling conflicts before candidate communication goes out.

3. Why is business gap different from raw gap?

Raw gap uses calendar time only. Business gap counts only minutes inside your selected workday and can skip weekends for operational planning.

4. Can I use it for panel interviews?

Yes. Enter the panel session as Interview 2, or compare any two consecutive stages in your hiring workflow.

5. What is the target maximum gap field for?

It lets you compare the waiting period against an internal recruiting SLA. You can quickly see whether the schedule meets your target.

6. Does it support same-day scheduling?

Yes. It reports whether the handoff occurs on the same day and shows exact days, hours, and minutes for the interval.

7. When should I export CSV or PDF?

Use CSV for spreadsheet analysis and reporting. Use PDF when sharing a summary with recruiters, coordinators, or hiring managers.

8. Can this help reduce candidate drop-off?

Yes. Shorter and more consistent interview gaps often improve candidate experience, reduce uncertainty, and keep the hiring process moving.
