Formula Used
To add fractions with unlike denominators, convert each term to an equivalent fraction using the least common denominator.
Improper conversion: (whole × denominator) + numerator
Common denominator: LCD = LCM of all denominators
Equivalent numerator: new numerator = old numerator × (LCD ÷ old denominator)
Sum: total = sum of equivalent numerators ÷ LCD
Simplify: divide the final numerator and denominator by their greatest common divisor.
