Formula Used

Part = Whole × Percentage ÷ 100 calculates the proportional share of a full amount.

Percentage = Part ÷ Whole × 100 converts a share into percentage form.

Whole = Part ÷ (Percentage ÷ 100) reconstructs the total from a known share.

Percentage Change = (New − Old) ÷ Old × 100 measures growth or decline relative to the starting value.

2. Can I use decimals and negative numbers?

Yes. The calculator accepts decimals and negative values. Only denominator-style inputs, such as a whole or original value used in division, cannot be zero.

3. When should I use direct proportion mode?

Use it when two ratios should stay equal, such as scaling recipes, map distances, or production rates where one variable increases in the same proportion as another.

4. How is percentage change different from simple difference?

Simple difference shows only the raw amount changed. Percentage change compares that difference with the original value, which helps measure relative growth or decline.

5. Why is my remainder negative?

A negative remainder means the calculated part is larger than the whole. That can happen with percentages above 100% or with values that exceed the reference amount.

6. What does the optional unit field do?
