Example Data Table

Length Width Unit Area Perimeter Diagonal Wastage Area with Wastage
8 5 m 40.00 m² 26.00 m 9.43 m 5% 42.00 m²
12 9 ft 108.00 ft² 42.00 ft 15.00 ft 8% 116.64 ft²
250 180 cm 45,000.00 cm² 860.00 cm 308.06 cm 10% 49,500.00 cm²

Formula Used

Area = Length × Width

Perimeter = 2 × (Length + Width)

Diagonal = √(Length² + Width²)

Area with Wastage = Area × (1 + Wastage% ÷ 100)

Scaled Length = Length × Scale Factor ÷ 100

Scaled Width = Width × Scale Factor ÷ 100

Scaled Area = Area × (Scale Factor ÷ 100)²

Material Cost = Area with Wastage × Cost per Square Unit

Border Cost = Perimeter × Border Cost per Unit

Tiles Needed = Ceiling(Area with Wastage ÷ Tile Area)

Frequently Asked Questions

1. What does this calculator compute besides area?

It also calculates perimeter, diagonal, aspect ratio, scaled dimensions, area with wastage, tile count, material cost, border cost, and several unit conversions for quicker planning and checking.

2. Which units can I use?

You can work in millimeters, centimeters, meters, inches, feet, or yards. The calculator keeps results in your chosen unit and also shows key conversions.

3. Why should I include wastage?

Wastage helps cover trimming, cutting errors, damage, and layout losses. It is useful for flooring, fabric, paint masking, panels, and sheet materials.

4. How is the diagonal useful?

The diagonal helps verify right-angle layouts, choose display sizes, compare rectangular shapes, and check whether a panel or object can fit across a space.

5. What is the scale factor for?

Use the scale factor to resize a rectangle by percentage. It is useful for drawings, image crops, print layouts, screen mockups, and construction plans.

6. How does tile count work?

When tile length and width are entered, the calculator finds tile area and divides the required coverage by that value. It rounds up to a whole tile.

7. Are cost results exact budgets?

They are planning estimates based on your rates and dimensions. Taxes, labor, installation waste, delivery, and local pricing changes may affect final spending.

8. Can I export my results?

Yes. After calculation, use the CSV button for spreadsheet-friendly data or the PDF button for a clean report that you can save or print.
