FAQs
1) What input formats can I use for entries?

Use integers decimals or simple fractions like 3/4 or -5/2. Empty cells are treated as zero.

2) How are fractions handled internally?

All calculations use exact rational arithmetic. Decimals entered are converted to fractions to avoid rounding during elimination.

3) Why does the determinant show n/a sometimes?

The determinant is defined only for square matrices. For rectangular inputs the value is not applicable.

4) What is the rank and how is it determined?

Rank equals the number of pivot columns found during reduction. It matches the count of nonzero rows in the row echelon form.

5) How is the nullspace basis computed?

Free columns are identified from the reduced form. Each free variable yields a basis vector by setting it to one and solving for pivot variables.

6) Can I switch between fractions and decimals?

Yes. Choose Fractions or Decimals and set a precision. The underlying math remains exact and only the display changes.

7) What size matrices are supported?

For stability and readability this tool supports up to 7 by 7. Larger matrices can be split into blocks or computed offline.
