Frequently asked questions
1. What does this calculator measure?
It estimates added sugar from foods and drinks you enter. It also converts grams into teaspoons, calories, weekly totals, monthly totals, annual totals, and percent of your selected daily target.
2. Does it measure natural sugar too?
No. This page is designed for added sugar only. Use label values that specifically list added sugar, not total sugar, unless you intentionally want a rougher estimate.
3. Why convert grams into teaspoons?
Teaspoons make label numbers easier to picture. A grams-to-teaspoons view can help users compare sweetened foods faster and explain intake more clearly during planning or tracking.
4. Can I use a custom target?
Yes. Select the custom target option and type your preferred grams per day. That lets the tool fit personal goals, coaching plans, meal plans, or professional nutrition workflows.
5. How are weekly and annual totals estimated?
The calculator multiplies your daily intake by the number of days you follow that pattern each week. It then projects the same pattern across a month and a full year.
6. What if I eat less than one serving?
Enter a decimal. For example, use 0.5 for half a serving or 1.25 for one and a quarter servings. The tool supports fractional servings for better accuracy.
7. Why track share of total added sugar?
The share column shows which item contributes the most to your daily total. That helps you identify the biggest reduction opportunities without changing every part of your diet.
8. Can I save my results?
Yes. After calculation, use the CSV button for spreadsheet-friendly data or the PDF button for a printable snapshot of your results table, summary cards, and chart.
