Formula Used
This tracker uses simplified educational formulas to organize routine observations and milestone timing.
| Component | Formula | Purpose |
|---|---|---|
| Chronological Age | Days between assessment date and birth date ÷ 30.4375 | Converts calendar age into months. |
| Corrected Age | max(0, chronological weeks − max(0, 40 − gestational weeks)) ÷ 4.345 | Adjusts age for prematurity. |
| Growth Alignment Score | max(0, 100 − (|actual − reference| ÷ reference × 250)) | Measures closeness to reference midpoints. |
| Routine Balance Score | Average of sleep, feed, tummy time, nap, and wet diaper range scores | Rewards values near suggested ranges. |
| Due Milestone Completion | Achieved due milestones ÷ total due milestones × 100 | Tracks milestones expected around corrected age. |
| Overall Tracker Score | 0.40 × milestone score + 0.35 × growth score + 0.25 × routine score | Builds a single educational tracking score. |

FAQs
1. What does corrected age mean?
Corrected age adjusts for prematurity. It estimates development from the original due date instead of the birth date, which helps compare progress more fairly.
2. Is this tracker a diagnostic tool?
No. It is an educational tracking aid for parents. It does not diagnose developmental delays, feeding issues, or growth concerns.
3. Why are the growth references approximate?
The calculator uses interpolated midpoint values for simple monitoring. Real pediatric growth charts use wider percentiles, sex-specific references, and clinical context.
4. What if one milestone is not checked yet?
One unchecked milestone does not automatically signal a problem. Babies develop at different speeds. Use the pattern over time and discuss worries with a pediatric professional.
5. Can I use this for a premature baby?
Yes. Enter the gestational age at birth. The tracker will calculate corrected age and use that adjusted value for milestone and routine comparisons.
6. How often should I update the tracker?
Weekly or biweekly updates work well for newborns. Monthly updates are often enough later, unless you are closely watching feeding, sleep, or milestone changes.
7. Why are sleep and feedings included?
Routines provide context for development. Sleep, feeding frequency, and daily care patterns can help parents spot changes worth watching over time.
8. Can I export the results?
Yes. After calculating, use the CSV or PDF buttons to save the summary, milestone review, and key tracking metrics.
