Calculator Inputs
Use the planner below to calculate totals, ratios, and a family balance score.
Formula Used
This tracker combines total minutes, routine balance, and habit quality into one practical family planning score.
- Daily Total Minutes = Educational + Entertainment + Communication + Bedtime Minutes
- Projected Weekly Hours = Daily Total × 7 ÷ 60
- Difference vs Limit = Daily Total − Recommended Limit
- Break Compliance % = Breaks Taken ÷ Break Goal × 100
- Category Share % = Category Minutes ÷ Daily Total × 100
- Balance Score starts at 100, then adjusts for overuse, bedtime use, frequent unlocks, session count, breaks, education share, outdoor time, and sleep.
The score is a planning tool for routines, not a medical diagnosis.

FAQs
1. What does this tracker measure?
It estimates daily screen totals, weekly projections, category shares, break compliance, and a routine balance score for family planning.
2. Can I use my own daily limit?
Yes. Enter a custom limit in minutes. Leave the field blank to use the age-based planning value built into the calculator.
3. Why is bedtime device use tracked separately?
Late device use can affect evening routines. Separating it helps families spot patterns and move screen time earlier in the day.
4. What improves the balance score?
Lower overuse, fewer bedtime minutes, reasonable session counts, regular breaks, stronger outdoor time, and adequate sleep improve the score.
5. Is this only for one child?
This version calculates one child profile at a time. Run it again with different values for siblings or compare exported summaries.
6. What should I reduce first?
Usually start with entertainment or bedtime minutes, then improve breaks and outdoor time. Small daily changes are easier to maintain.
7. What does screen to outdoor ratio mean?
It compares total screen minutes to outdoor minutes. Lower ratios generally indicate a more balanced daily routine.
8. Does this replace professional advice?
No. It is a household planning calculator. For individual health or developmental concerns, consult a qualified professional.
