Calculator
Select a model, enter values, and compute the time needed to cover a distance. Use unit menus for quick conversion and choose your preferred time unit.
Formula used
- Constant speed: t = d / v
- Average speed: t = d / v̄
- Uniform acceleration: d = v0 t + 0.5 a t², solved as a quadratic in t.
For the acceleration model, the calculator finds the smallest positive real root. If acceleration is near zero, it falls back to a constant-speed estimate.
How to use this calculator
- Select the motion model that matches your scenario.
- Enter the travel distance and choose its unit.
- Provide speed, or provide v0 and acceleration for the acceleration model.
- Pick the output time unit and the rounding precision.
- Press Calculate to show results above the form.

Example data table
| Scenario | Distance | Speed / v0 | Acceleration | Estimated time |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Constant speed | 100 m | 5 m/s | 0 m/s² | 20 s |
| Average speed | 2 km | 12 km/h | 0 m/s² | 10 min |
| Uniform acceleration | 50 m | 0 m/s | 2 m/s² | 7.071 s |
