Cover Time Estimate Calculator

Compute cover time for any motion case. Choose units, acceleration mode, and rounding controls easily. Download reports, validate inputs, and view clear results above.

Calculator

Select a model, enter values, and compute the time needed to cover a distance. Use unit menus for quick conversion and choose your preferred time unit.

Pick the motion assumption that matches your setup.
Use a positive distance for meaningful time.
Used by constant or average speed models.
Used by the acceleration model.
Can be negative for deceleration.
Formula used

For the acceleration model, the calculator finds the smallest positive real root. If acceleration is near zero, it falls back to a constant-speed estimate.

How to use this calculator
  1. Select the motion model that matches your scenario.
  2. Enter the travel distance and choose its unit.
  3. Provide speed, or provide v0 and acceleration for the acceleration model.
  4. Pick the output time unit and the rounding precision.
  5. Press Calculate to show results above the form.
  6. Use Download CSV or Download PDF after calculation.
Example data table
Scenario Distance Speed / v0 Acceleration Estimated time
Constant speed 100 m 5 m/s 0 m/s² 20 s
Average speed 2 km 12 km/h 0 m/s² 10 min
Uniform acceleration 50 m 0 m/s 2 m/s² 7.071 s

Example values are illustrative and rounded.
