FAQs

1. What does goal progress mean?

Goal progress compares achieved value with the target value. A result above 100% means the project has exceeded the original target or output expectation.

2. Why is contingency removed from budget?

Contingency is usually reserved for unexpected events. Removing it from the working budget shows how much planned spending room is actually available for normal project work.

3. What is the completion index?

The completion index is the average of goal, task, and milestone progress. It gives one blended view of execution instead of relying on a single measure.

4. How is schedule efficiency interpreted?

Schedule efficiency compares actual completion pace with time passed. Above 100% suggests the project is moving faster than time consumption. Below 100% suggests slower progress.

5. Why can forecast spend be higher than budget?

If current daily spending remains unchanged, the forecast extends that rate across the full timeline. This often reveals overspending early enough to adjust decisions.

6. Can I use this for nonfinancial goals?

Yes. Goal target and achieved values can represent units, deliverables, savings, sales, or output counts. The budget section still helps control project costs.

7. What is budget variance?

Budget variance is the working budget minus actual spend. A positive number means budget remains. A negative number means current spending has exceeded the working budget.

8. Why export to CSV or PDF?

CSV works well for spreadsheet review and sharing. PDF is useful for status meetings, documentation, snapshots, and sending a fixed project summary to stakeholders.
