FAQs
1. Is this calculator tied to one country?
No. It is configurable. You can enter your own progressive brackets, allowances, credits, and rates to match many tax systems.
2. Should I enter monthly or annual values?
Annual values work best because most tax calculations are yearly. You can still annualize monthly figures before entering them.
3. How are progressive tax brackets entered?
Enter one line per bracket using upper_limit:rate. Example: 40000:20 means income up to 40,000 is taxed at 20 percent for that slice.
4. What happens if my deductions exceed income?
The calculator treats negative profit as zero taxable income. This keeps the estimate conservative and avoids negative tax values.
5. Do tax credits reduce all taxes here?
Yes. Credits reduce the combined gross tax total in this model, but never below zero. Adjust inputs if your system uses credits differently.
6. What does the quarterly target mean?
It shows one fourth of your estimated annual tax after credits. It helps freelancers plan regular payments across the year.
7. Can I use a different currency?
Yes. Change the currency symbol field to $, €, £, PKR, AED, or any symbol you prefer for display and exports.
8. Is this a final filing result?
No. It is a planning estimate. Final tax results can differ because of local rules, filing status, caps, and special deductions.
