Formula Used
Gross Area = Sum of each surface length × surface height.
Net Area = Gross Area − Total Opening Area.
Adjusted Area = Net Area × (1 + Waste % ÷ 100).
Boards Needed = Ceiling of Adjusted Area ÷ Board Area.
Total Fasteners = Boards Needed × Fasteners Per Board.
Internal seam length is calculated from board rows and columns. Tape Rolls = Ceiling of seam length with waste ÷ roll coverage.
Grand Total = Board Cost + Fastener Cost + Tape Cost + Labor Cost + Tax.

2) Can I use it for walls and roofs?
Yes. You can label each surface however you want. The calculator simply multiplies each surface length by height or span to find total sheathing area.
3) Why should I enter opening area?
Openings reduce the net area needing sheathing. Deducting windows, doors, and vents improves the estimate and reduces overbuying.
4) How is waste handled?
Waste is added as a percentage on top of the net area. This helps cover cuts, breakage, layout losses, and small installation mistakes.
5) How are seam tape rolls estimated?
The calculator estimates internal joint length from board rows and columns on each surface. Then it adds waste and divides by the roll coverage value.
6) Does it account for complex layouts?
It gives a strong planning estimate, not a shop drawing. Corners, diagonal cuts, special details, and unusual framing may require additional material.
7) Can I change the currency symbol?
