Egg Production Records
Accurate egg production records help poultry farms understand daily flock performance. A consistent log connects egg collection with flock size, feed use, quality, sales, and inventory. This makes routine management easier and creates a useful history for later review.
Daily collection entries can be separated into morning, afternoon, and evening totals. The generated report combines these values and calculates key production percentages. Recording broken, cracked, dirty, and rejected eggs also helps identify losses that can otherwise remain hidden.
Important Production Measures
Production rate compares collected eggs with the current number of hens. Marketable rate shows how many collected eggs remain suitable for sale. Feed per egg provides a simple way to compare feed use with production.
| Measure | Calculation | Purpose |
|---|---|---|
| Production Rate | Eggs ÷ Hens × 100 | Tracks daily laying output. |
| Marketable Rate | Marketable ÷ Total Eggs × 100 | Shows usable production. |
| Breakage Rate | Broken and cracked ÷ Total × 100 | Tracks physical egg losses. |
| Average Egg Weight | Total weight ÷ Eggs | Monitors average egg size. |
| Feed per Egg | Feed used ÷ Eggs | Relates feed use to output. |
Using the Log Effectively
Enter records at consistent times each day to improve comparisons. Record flock changes whenever birds die, are culled, or move between houses. Feed, environmental, health, and management notes can provide context when production changes unexpectedly.
Sales and inventory fields extend the record beyond production alone. They help reconcile eggs collected with eggs sold, used internally, or remaining in storage. CSV export is useful for spreadsheets, while the print option can create a PDF record through the browser.
