About the Leathercraft Pattern Generator
A leathercraft pattern turns project measurements into repeatable cutting instructions. This generator helps plan panels, gussets, straps, pockets, folds, stitch lines, and hardware positions. It is useful for beginners, hobby makers, small workshops, and experienced leatherworkers developing custom designs.
Start with a project preset or enter your own dimensions. The pattern can include seam allowance, fold allowance, edge allowance, corner radius, leather thickness, and grain direction. Stitching controls define edge distance, hole spacing, hole diameter, and the selected stitch style. Hardware settings add useful reference positions for snaps, rivets, buckles, rings, closures, and other fittings.
The preview combines the main dimensions with cut lines, fold lines, stitch references, holes, labels, and hardware marks. Component information is also summarized in a table. Material planning estimates the pattern area and adds a configurable waste allowance for cutting and layout planning.
Use the export controls to save a CSV project summary or create a PDF-ready pattern sheet. Full-size printing should be checked with the calibration square before cutting valuable leather. Always verify the physical fit, leather stretch, thickness, and construction sequence before producing a final piece.
Pattern Planning Reference
| Element | Purpose | Typical planning consideration |
|---|---|---|
| Seam allowance | Provides material beyond the stitch or join. | Adjust for construction method and edge finishing. |
| Fold allowance | Supports folded edges and bends. | Consider leather thickness and bend radius. |
| Stitch spacing | Controls the distance between holes. | Match the thread and pricking iron. |
| Corner radius | Softens corners and improves consistency. | Check punch and cutting access. |
| Waste allowance | Accounts for layout and unusable areas. | Increase it for irregular hides. |
