How the Mosaic Pattern Generator Works
This Mosaic Pattern Generator turns simple design settings into a reusable visual layout. Choose a pattern type, tile shape, canvas size, and color palette. The live canvas redraws as controls change, so experimentation stays quick. Rows and columns control structure, while tile size and density influence visual weight. Spacing, grout width, borders, and background color help simulate realistic installations or clean digital artwork. A fixed random seed keeps generated variations repeatable, which is useful when comparing options or sharing a design.
How to Use the Generator
Start with a preset when you need a fast foundation. Bathroom, backsplash, floor, pixel, Moroccan, Mediterranean, modern, monochrome, and decorative wall presets provide useful combinations. You can then change every value independently. Use symmetry or mirroring for balanced layouts. Offset rows create brick-like movement, while radial patterns create a stronger focal point. Randomization changes tile placement behavior without removing control. The zoom buttons only change the preview scale, so exported specifications remain based on the original canvas dimensions.
Color, Grout, and Tile Decisions
Color choice usually has the strongest effect on a mosaic. Use a limited palette for calm spaces and more colors for energetic artwork. Gradient mode blends through the selected palette. Monochrome mode creates lighter and darker versions of the first color. Grout color can either separate tiles strongly or visually merge them. Wider gaps make individual pieces easier to read. Smaller gaps create a denser surface. For physical installations, treat this preview as a planning aid rather than a construction specification.
Exporting Your Pattern
CSV export records each generated tile with its row, column, shape, position, dimensions, rotation, and color. That data can support estimates, production notes, or further processing. PDF export captures the rendered design together with key specifications and a pattern summary. Printing provides a quick paper reference. The statistics area also reports tile count, grid dimensions, palette size, and estimated coverage. Save the same seed whenever you want to recreate a randomized pattern consistently.
