How to Use the Warhammer Army List Generator

Start by entering your army name, faction, detachment, and points limit. Then add units from the built-in library or create custom entries. Each unit can store model counts, wargear, enhancements, leader information, keywords, and notes. The generator recalculates points after every change. It also tracks remaining points, model totals, unit counts, and category statistics. Use filters when a large roster becomes difficult to scan. Save the list locally if you want to return later without creating an account.

Understanding Army Points and Validation

Points provide a simple way to compare army size and battlefield value. This tool totals every unit and upgrade against your selected limit. Validation warnings highlight common problems such as oversized units, duplicate unique characters, excessive copies, missing warlords, or totals above the limit. Warnings remain flexible because narrative events and house rules often use exceptions. You can therefore keep editing any roster even when the generator finds an issue. Custom point values make the tool useful for older editions, fan expansions, and campaign rules.

Building a Balanced Army List

A balanced roster usually combines scoring units, durable threats, mobility, leadership, and specialized damage. Avoid spending too much on one battlefield role unless your strategy depends on it. Review the category summary before exporting your list. A high model count may improve board control, while fewer elite units can simplify play. Use notes to record unit assignments, deployment plans, or transport relationships. When finished, export the roster as CSV for spreadsheet analysis or PDF for sharing and printing. JSON export is useful for backups because it preserves detailed unit settings. Always compare your final roster with the official rules used by your gaming group or event.
