Formula Used

1. Gross Sales

Gross Sales = Sales Override, or (Deals Closed × Average Deal Value) + Additional Sales.

2. Commissionable Sales

Commissionable Sales = Gross Sales − Non-Commissionable Sales.

3. Base Commission

Percentage model: Commissionable Sales × Commission Rate.

Fixed model: Deals Closed × Fixed Amount per Sale.

Tiered model: Apply each tier rate only to the sales amount inside that tier.

4. Accelerator Commission

Accelerator Commission = Max(0, Commissionable Sales − Accelerator Threshold) × Accelerator Rate.

5. Override Commission

Override Commission = Override Sales × Override Rate.

6. Split Adjustment

Adjusted Variable Commission = (Base Commission + Accelerator + Override) × Rep Split Percentage.

7. Bonus

Bonus is added when Commissionable Sales meet or exceed the bonus threshold.

8. Gross Pay and Net Pay

Gross Pay = Base Pay + Gross Commission + Bonus.

Taxable Pay = Gross Pay − Recoverable Draw.

Net Pay = Taxable Pay − Tax Withholding − Other Deductions.

Commissionable sales are the sales amount eligible for commission after removing returns, non-commissionable items, taxes, shipping, or excluded accounts.

Use it when you already know the exact sales total for the period and do not want the calculator to estimate sales from deals closed and average deal value.

3. How does a recoverable draw affect pay?

A recoverable draw acts like an advance. The calculator subtracts it from payable earnings once commissions and bonuses are generated for the same period.

4. What is the difference between percentage and tiered commission?

Percentage commission applies one rate to the full commissionable amount. Tiered commission applies different rates to different sales ranges, which can reward higher performance more aggressively.

5. Why use a split percentage?

Split percentage is useful when two or more representatives share revenue credit. It adjusts the variable commission portion to match the rep’s actual share.

6. Does the commission cap limit bonuses too?

No. In this version, the cap limits variable commission only. Bonuses remain separate so you can model milestone incentives independently.
