Formula Used

Distance conversion: kilometers = miles × 1.609344.

Fuel volume: liters = distance ÷ km per liter. For L/100 km, liters = distance × fuel rate ÷ 100. For mpg, liters = miles ÷ mpg × 3.785411784.

Temperature correction: corrected liters = raw liters ÷ [1 + expansion coefficient × (fuel temperature − reference temperature)].

Fuel mass: mass = corrected liters × density.

Energy: energy in MJ = mass × heating value. Energy in kWh = MJ ÷ 3.6.

Carbon output: CO2 = corrected liters × carbon factor.

Actual fuel cost: cost = corrected volume or mass × fuel price.

Final reimbursement: eligible claim = selected base claim + fees, then multiplied by business use percent. Shared reimbursement = eligible claim ÷ shared claim count.
