About this calculator
This calculator estimates capture odds for Pokemon Silver battles. It focuses on Generation II rules. Those rules are different from newer games. The tool accepts base catch rate, hit points, selected ball, status, level data, and special ball conditions. It then returns the modified rate, the final catch value, shake check value, single throw chance, cumulative chance, and expected throws. It also helps compare rare ball choices without wasting time during long sessions today.
Why the inputs matter
Every species has a base catch rate. Higher values are easier to catch. HP also changes the result. Lower current HP improves the capture value. Sleep and freeze add a direct bonus in Pokemon Silver. Paralysis, poison, and burn do not help here because of a Generation II status bug. Ball choice matters, but some balls have old quirks. The Moon Ball stays at normal strength. The Fast Ball only helps a few listed targets. The Love Ball checks the same gender in these games.
Planning better throws
Use this tool before spending rare balls. Start with the species rate. Enter maximum HP and current HP. Pick the correct ball. Add the wild level and your active Pokemon level when using a Level Ball. Add weight for the Heavy Ball. Mark fishing when using the Lure Ball. The report shows how one ball performs and how many tries may be needed for a chosen confidence level.
Reading the results
The single throw chance is the main value. It tells how likely the next ball is to catch the target. The cumulative chance estimates success after many identical throws. Expected throws is an average, not a promise. Low rate legendary Pokemon can still escape many times. A higher cumulative chance only reduces risk. It never guarantees success unless the Master Ball is used.
Useful notes
Generation II uses small integer steps. Rounding can change the final result. The game also uses a shake table after a failed catch check. This calculator shows that table value for reference. For very high HP, old byte behavior can create strange edge cases. Normal Pokemon Silver encounters usually stay inside safe values. Use the exports to save route notes, hunt plans, or comparison reports.
