Climate Vulnerability Map Calculator

Quantify climate risk for projects and portfolios. Combine hazards, exposure, and resilience drivers. Export reports for audit-ready ESG decisions now.

Calculator
Single-column page layout, responsive input grid inside
Label for exports and reports.
Scales hazard index multiplier.
Longer horizons increase hazard pressure.

Hazards (0–100)
Higher values mean stronger hazard likelihood or intensity.

Exposure
How much is in harm’s way.

Sensitivity
Who is most affected and why.

Adaptive capacity
Higher values reduce vulnerability.

Weights (optional)
Adjust drivers to match your framework; weights auto-normalize within each group.
Defaults sum to 100 across hazards.
Use higher weight for dominant hazards.

Example data table
Sample sites for portfolio screening
Site Scenario Horizon Hazard Exposure Capacity Score Band
Coastal Plant High 2050 72.0 61.5 48.0 68.4 Very High
Urban Hub Moderate 2040 58.0 73.0 55.0 52.1 High
Inland Depot Low 2030 41.0 38.0 62.0 19.7 Low

Formula used
Composite approach aligned with common ESG screening logic
  • Hazard index = weighted average of hazard inputs × Scenario multiplier × Horizon multiplier.
  • Exposure index = weighted average of normalized population, normalized assets, and criticality score.
  • Sensitivity index = weighted average of poverty, elderly share, and health burden indicators.
  • Adaptive capacity = weighted average of governance, early warning, health system, and finance access.
  • Composite core = (Hazard/100) × (Exposure/100) × (Sensitivity/100).
  • Vulnerability score = clamp( Core×120 − Capacity×0.45×100 , 0..100 ).
  • Banding: Low <20, Moderate 20–39, High 40–59, Very High 60–79, Extreme ≥80.
Weights auto-normalize inside each group, so you can enter 10/20/30 or 1/2/3 without changing totals.
How to use this calculator
A repeatable workflow for climate and ESG teams
  1. Choose a scenario and time horizon that matches your disclosure plan.
  2. Score hazards using internal data, models, or authoritative sources.
  3. Enter exposure values for population, assets, and infrastructure criticality.
  4. Capture sensitivity and capacity indicators to reflect social and system factors.
  5. Press Submit to show results above the form.
  6. Export CSV or PDF for documentation and stakeholder review.
