Calculator

Enter activity data and factors

All factors are in kgCO2e per unit. Emissions are calculated as activity × factor.

Used for tCO2e per employee.
Used for kgCO2e per revenue unit.

Scope 1: Direct emissions

Fuels + refrigerants
kgCO2e per liter
Typical fleet data: monthly liters consumed.
kgCO2e per liter
kgCO2e per therm
Use either therms or m3, not both.
kgCO2e per m3
kgCO2e per kg leaked (GWP-based)
kgCO2e per kg leaked (GWP-based)

Scope 2: Purchased energy

Electricity
Use utility bills or sub-meter totals.
Match your reporting policy and disclosure needs.
kgCO2e per kWh (grid average)
kgCO2e per kWh (contracts/RECs)
Good practice
Replace factors with local grid data and contractual instruments to align with your disclosures.

Scope 3: Value-chain emissions

Travel, waste, procurement
kgCO2e per passenger-km
kgCO2e per passenger-km
kgCO2e per metric ton (placeholder)
Use supplier-specific data when available.
kgCO2e per USD (placeholder)
Accuracy note
Spend factors are coarse. Replace with supplier footprints.

Custom sources

Add any extra categories (e.g., steam, courier miles, cloud spend).
Name Scope Activity Unit Factor
Negative numbers are treated as zero. Empty rows are ignored.
Example

Sample activity data

Scope Source Activity Unit Factor Emissions (tCO2e)
Scope 2 Purchased electricity (location-based) 120,000 kWh 0.55 66.000
Scope 1 Mobile combustion: Diesel 8,500 liter 2.68 22.780
Scope 3 Business travel: Air 210,000 passenger-km 0.15 31.500
Values are illustrative. Replace factors with your official sources.
Formula used

Activity to emissions conversion

For each source, the calculator converts activity data into emissions using: Emissions (kgCO2e) = Activity × Emission Factor. Totals are summed by scope and converted to tonnes using tCO2e = kgCO2e ÷ 1000.

  • Scope 1 covers direct fuel combustion and refrigerant leakage.
  • Scope 2 covers purchased electricity using location-based or market-based factors.
  • Scope 3 covers value-chain categories like travel, waste, and procurement.
How to use

Steps for a reliable inventory

  1. Choose your reporting year and organizational boundary.
  2. Enter activity data from invoices, meters, logs, and travel reports.
  3. Replace default factors with your approved factor set.
  4. Select the appropriate Scope 2 method for disclosure.
  5. Add custom sources for missing categories and submit.
  6. Export CSV and PDF outputs for reviews and reporting.
Quality checklist
Track units, document sources, store assumptions, and verify outliers with owners.
