Cornice Length Calculator

Plan cornice lengths from simple rectangles to complex offsets. Add waste, subtract gaps, and export takeoff reports. Measure once, order smart, install clean, finish perfectly always.

Calculator Inputs

Use consistent units. Enter decimal values if needed. For large projects, set tiers for stacked cornice runs.

Used for display only.
Pick the model closest to your layout.
Multiply length for stacked runs.
Rectangle inputs
Total cornice = 2 × (Length + Width) × Levels
Use deductions for open edges.
Circle inputs
Total cornice = 2 × π × Radius × Levels
Shown in selected unit.
For partial runs, use segments.
Polygon inputs
Total cornice = Sides × Side length × Levels
Equal sides only.
Segment inputs
Total cornice = Sum(segments) × Levels
Enter up to 12 edges.
Exclude open sides with deductions.
Example: 3.625
Only the first 6 segments are summed.

Adjustments

Open edges, windows, or access gaps.
Typical range: 5–12%.
Used to estimate pieces needed.

Allowances and costs

External plus internal corners.
Extra length for mitre losses.
If you purchase separate corner pieces.
Where two lengths meet.
Overlap, scarf, or lap allowance.
Applies to total order length.

Example Data Table

Sample takeoff showing a segmented layout with waste, deductions, and stock estimation.

Scenario Method Inputs Result
Apartment living room Rectangle Length 6.0, Width 4.0, Levels 1, Waste 8% Total = 21.6
Curved façade band Circle Radius 5.0, Levels 1, Deductions 2.0, Waste 10% Total ≈ 32.6
Stepped frontage Segments Segments: 4.0, 3.2, 4.0, 3.2, 1.5, 1.5; Waste 7% Total ≈ 18.8

Values are illustrative. Your totals depend on deductions and allowances.

Formula Used

How to Use This Calculator

  1. Choose your unit and a method that matches the layout.
  2. Enter geometry values. For complex plans, use segment lengths.
  3. Set levels if the cornice runs on multiple stacked lines.
  4. Add deductions for edges where cornice will not be installed.
  5. Enter allowances for corners and joints if cutting losses apply.
  6. Set a waste percentage to cover breakage and trimming.
  7. Optionally add stock length to estimate the number of pieces.
  8. Press Calculate. Export results using the CSV or PDF buttons.

For best accuracy, measure along the installed path, not the projected plan only.
