Input Parameters

Enter counts and options. Rates are editable so you can reflect your project requirements.

Used to estimate hinges per leaf.
High security tends to increase hinge count and closer use.
Enables reader quantities and electrified defaults.

Unit Rates

Edit any unit cost. The calculator multiplies quantity × unit cost, then applies miscellaneous and contingency percentages.

Formula Used

The calculator uses rule-based takeoff, then cost extension. Replace assumptions with your hardware schedule whenever available.

  • Openings = single doors + double doors.
  • Leaves = single doors + (2 × double doors).
  • Hinges per leaf: 3 typical, 4 if height > 2100 mm, 5 if height > 2400 mm; steel or high-security floors to at least 4.
  • Hinge quantity = leaves × hinges per leaf.
  • Closer quantity: auto includes closers for exterior, fire-rated, or high-security doors; always includes for every leaf; none excludes them.
  • Locksets = single doors + double doors × (both active leaves ? 2 : 1).
  • Panic devices use the same rule as locksets when enabled.
  • Strikes = max(locksets, panic devices).
  • Seals (auto) = openings for exterior or fire-rated conditions.
  • Thresholds (auto) = openings for exterior conditions.
  • Access readers = openings × reader sides (1 or 2) when access control is selected.
  • Electric strikes = strikes when electrified is enabled or implied by access control.
  • Power supplies = ceil(openings ÷ 8) when electrified.
  • Line cost = quantity × unit rate.
  • Subtotal = sum of all line costs.
  • Misc allowance = subtotal × misc%.
  • Contingency = (subtotal + misc) × contingency%.
  • Grand total = subtotal + misc + contingency.
