Inputs

Inputs switch labels automatically.
Use this as a reporting label.
Used to estimate loads / refills.
Optional if area is provided.
Optional if area is provided.
If blank, area = length × width.
Typical range: 0.3–1.5 L/m² per application.
Example: 2 to 6 for daytime operations.
Use working days, not calendar days.
Evaporation, wind drift, runoff, overspray.
Percent of applied water that actually suppresses dust.
Covers extra demand and operational variability.
Reset
Note: If you use Imperial units, rate is entered as gal/yd² per application.

Example Data Table

Scenario Area Base rate Apps/day Days Loss Eff. Safety Total with safety
Haul road section 3,000 m² 0.9 L/m²/app 4 10 12% 85% 10% ~ 1,436 m³
Open yard 1,200 m² 0.6 L/m²/app 3 7 8% 90% 10% ~ 169 m³
Stockpile perimeter spray 450 m² 1.1 L/m²/app 5 14 15% 80% 15% ~ 519 m³

Examples are illustrative. Adjust rate and losses for material type, traffic, and climate.

Formula Used

1) Area
If area is not entered: Area = Length × Width

2) Adjusted application rate
AdjustedRate = BaseRate × (1 + Loss%) ÷ Effectiveness%
This increases demand for overspray, evaporation, wind drift, and poor coverage.

3) Daily and total water
Daily = Area × AdjustedRate × ApplicationsPerDay
Total = Daily × ProjectDays

4) Safety factor and truck loads
TotalWithSafety = Total × (1 + Safety%)
TruckLoads = TotalWithSafety ÷ TruckCapacity

How to Use This Calculator

  1. Choose your unit system and surface type for reporting.
  2. Enter area directly, or enter length and width.
  3. Set your base application rate per spray pass.
  4. Enter how many applications happen each day.
  5. Add losses for wind, heat, runoff, and overspray.
  6. Set effectiveness based on equipment and coverage quality.
  7. Apply a safety factor for unexpected demand peaks.
  8. Click calculate to view totals and truck load estimates.
  9. Use the download buttons to export your report.
