Apply buffer: Q = Q × (1 + b/100)

2) Convert volume to pallet positions
Aₚ = Lₚ × Wₚ

Vₚ = Aₚ × H × u
N = ceil(V / Vₚ)
Aₚ is pallet footprint, H is stack height used, u is utilization.
3) Total storage area
Nf = ceil(N / levels) (if racking)
Abase = Nf × Aₚ
Atotal = Abase × (1 + a/100) × (1 + c/100)
a is aisle allowance, c is clearance allowance.
4) Suggested bay layout
width = √(Atotal / r)
bays = ceil(width / bayW)
suggestedW = bays × bayW
suggestedL = Atotal / suggestedW
r is the aspect ratio (length/width).
