Calculator Inputs

Units & Geometry
Switching units changes labels; values are not auto-converted.
Reduces effective loaded area to model openings and voids.
Panels & Ratings
Optional. Used for a simple utilization check.
Loads & Factors
Models load spreading across adjacent panels.
Tip: Enter manufacturer capacities to see PASS/FAIL utilization checks.

Example Data Table

Case Room Panel Loads Point load Factors Output highlight
Sample A 6.0 x 4.0 m 0.6 x 0.6 m Live 7.2, Dead 1.0 (kN/m^2) 5 kN x 4 items, sharing 2 panels Impact 1.20, Safety 1.50, Cutouts 5% Total design load ~ 331.2 kN; intensity ~ 14.53 kN/m^2
Sample B 10.0 x 5.0 m 0.6 x 1.2 m Live 5.0, Dead 1.5 (kN/m^2) 8 kN x 2 items, sharing 1 panel Impact 1.10, Safety 1.40, Cutouts 0% Use to compare point checks against panel rating
Examples are for illustration only; always confirm project criteria.

Formula Used

  • Floor area: A = L x W
  • Total uniform load: Wu = (q_live + q_dead) x A
  • Total equipment load: We = P x N
  • Design load: Wd = (Wu + We x IF) x SF
  • Effective area: A_eff = A x (1 - cutouts%)
  • Average design intensity: qd = Wd / A_eff
  • Uniform share per panel: W_panel = qd x A_panel
  • Point load per panel: P_panel = (P / n_share) x IF x SF
  • Pedestal share (simplified): W_ped = W_panel / 4 and P_ped = P_panel / 4
  • Utilization: U = demand / capacity (PASS when U <= 1.0)
Distribution varies by system and load location. Use this tool as a screening check.

How to Use This Calculator

  1. Select a unit system and enter room dimensions.
  2. Choose a panel preset or enter custom panel dimensions.
  3. Enter live and dead loads based on project requirements.
  4. Add equipment point load and quantity for heavy items.
  5. Set sharing panels to reflect load spreading assumptions.
  6. Apply impact and safety factors per your design approach.
  7. Optionally enter panel and pedestal ratings for utilization checks.
  8. Press calculate to view results, then export CSV or PDF.
Disclaimer: This calculator provides simplified estimates for planning and comparison. Final raised floor selection must follow manufacturer data, governing codes, and professional design review.
