  2. Select a jurisdiction preset (or choose Custom and pick an FY end date).
  3. Set rounding (exact, completed years, nearest, or decimal) and leap‑day behaviour.
  4. Enable eligibility thresholds if you need pass/fail checks.
  5. Copy a shareable link or export PDF/CSV as needed.

Formula & logic

We compute the as‑of date from the chosen financial year end and cut‑off policy. Age is the difference between DOB and as‑of date. Exact returns years–months–days via calendar math. Completed years floors the age to full years. Nearest rounds by comparing the next birthday proximity. Decimal divides total days by 365.2425 and rounds to the selected precision.

Jurisdiction presets map to FY end dates; South Africa uses the last day of February (28 or 29), and the UK ends on 5 April. FY label is built from FY start and end years.

FAQs

Is a financial year the same as a calendar year?

No. Many jurisdictions use a non‑calendar fiscal year. For example, India/Pakistan and Australia end on 30 June; the UK tax year ends on 5 April.

How are leap‑day (Feb 29) birthdays handled?

You can choose to celebrate on Feb 28 or Mar 1 in non‑leap years. The selection affects exact/rounded ages around the FY end.

What does “day before FY end” mean?

Some rules treat eligibility as of the day prior to the FY end. Selecting this shifts the as‑of date back by one day.

Which rounding should I use?

Compliance forms often want completed years (floor). Planning/analytics may prefer decimal years. Exact Y–M–D is best for human‑readable statements.

Can I process multiple people at once?

Yes. Use Batch mode with a CSV file of names and DOBs. Download the computed results as CSV for your records.
