The calculator first converts Brix into specific gravity. It then compares original gravity and final gravity. The main relation is:

SG = 1 + Brix / (258.6 - ((Brix / 258.2) * 227.1))

Alcohol by gravity uses:

ABV = (Original SG - Final SG) × 131.25

The Brix difference method uses:

ABV = (Starting Brix - Final Brix) × 0.59

Final adjusted alcohol uses:

Adjusted ABV = ((Base ABV × Yield Factor) + ABV Correction) × Retention Factor
