Advanced Calculator

Use fractions, decimals, mixed numbers, integers, and percentages. Examples: 3/4, 1 2/5, -0.75, 12.5%.

Example Data Table

First Value Mode Second Value Expected Result
3/4 Add 0.5 5/4 or 1.25
1 1/2 Multiply 2/3 1
0.875 Decimal to fraction Not needed 7/8
5/6 Compare 0.82 5/6 is greater

Formula Used

Addition: a/b + c/d = (ad + bc) / bd

Subtraction: a/b - c/d = (ad - bc) / bd

Multiplication: a/b × c/d = ac / bd

Division: a/b ÷ c/d = a/b × d/c

Decimal to fraction: place decimal digits over a power of ten. Then reduce.

Simplification: divide numerator and denominator by their greatest common divisor.

About Fractions and Decimals

Clear Number Conversion

Fractions and decimals show the same value in different forms. A fraction uses a numerator and denominator. A decimal uses place value. This solver connects both forms. It helps you check answers without guessing. It also shows a clean reduced fraction. That makes the answer easier to read.

Exact Fraction Work

Decimal answers can be rounded. Fraction answers can stay exact. This is useful in school math. It is also useful in cooking, design, trade work, and reports. The calculator first converts each value into a fraction. Then it applies the chosen operation. Finally, it reduces the result.

Mixed Numbers and Percentages

Mixed numbers are common in daily use. You can enter values like one and one half. The tool changes them into improper fractions. Percent values are also accepted. A percent is divided by one hundred. This lets you compare rates, discounts, and proportions.

Better Learning Steps

The step section is helpful for learning. It explains the method in simple words. You can see the exact fraction. You can also see the decimal and percent forms. This makes the calculator useful for homework. It also helps when checking manual work.

Reliable Export Options

The export buttons save the result. CSV works well for spreadsheets. PDF works well for sharing and printing. Each export includes the main result and steps. This keeps your work organized. Use the tool whenever fractions and decimals must match.

FAQs

1. Can this calculator solve mixed numbers?

Yes. Enter mixed numbers with a space, such as 1 1/2. The calculator converts them into improper fractions before solving.

2. Can I enter negative fractions?

Yes. You can enter negative values like -3/4, -1.25, or -2 1/3. The answer keeps the correct sign.

3. Does it reduce fractions automatically?

Yes. Every fraction result is reduced using the greatest common divisor. This gives the simplest exact form.

4. How do I convert a decimal to a fraction?

Select decimal to fraction. Enter a decimal like 0.875. The calculator places digits over a power of ten and reduces the result.

5. Can I compare a fraction and a decimal?

Yes. Select compare values. Enter one value in each box. The calculator converts both values and compares them by cross multiplication.

6. Why is decimal precision needed?

Some fractions create long decimal values. Precision controls how many decimal places appear in the rounded decimal result.

7. What happens if I divide by zero?

The calculator blocks division by zero. It shows an error because division by zero is undefined in standard arithmetic.

8. What export formats are available?

You can download results as CSV or PDF. CSV is useful for spreadsheets. PDF is useful for printing and sharing.
