Example Data Table
| Height | Gender option | Frame | Formula | Estimated output |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| 160 cm | Female | Medium | Average | About 54 kg |
| 175 cm | Male | Medium | Devine | About 70 kg |
| 183 cm | Male | Large | Hamwi | About 84 kg |
Formula Used
The calculator first converts centimeters to inches. It then applies the chosen ideal body weight equation. Each formula starts with a base weight at 5 feet. It adds or subtracts weight for every inch above or below 60 inches.
Height in inches = centimeters ÷ 2.54
BMI weight = BMI × height in meters²
Frame adjusted weight = formula result × frame factor
- Small frame factor: 0.95
- Medium frame factor: 1.00
- Large frame factor: 1.05
Healthy BMI range uses 18.5 to 24.9. Target BMI weight uses your selected BMI value.

Centimeters and Weight Planning
A centimeter value does not convert into weight by itself. Height only gives a useful starting point. Body weight also depends on sex, frame size, muscle, age, and health goals. This calculator turns height into practical weight estimates. It uses recognized ideal weight formulas. It also shows a healthy BMI range.
Why Height Matters
Height changes the weight range that may support normal movement and body function. A taller person usually carries more lean mass and tissue. A shorter person often needs a lower range. This is why BMI uses height squared. It compares weight against height rather than weight alone.
Using Multiple Formulas
One formula can feel too narrow. Different formulas were designed from different clinical assumptions. Devine is common for medication and reference work. Hamwi is popular for quick ideal weight checks. Robinson and Miller offer smoother estimates for many adults. This page compares them and then adjusts the chosen result for frame size.
Reading the Results
The result should guide planning, not replace expert advice. The ideal estimate is a reference point. The BMI range gives a broader band. If your current weight sits above or below the band, review lifestyle, nutrition, and medical factors. Athletes may exceed BMI ranges due to muscle. Older adults may need individualized targets.
Frame Size and Units
Frame size is a simple adjustment. A small frame reduces the reference value. A large frame increases it. The calculator also converts between kilograms, pounds, and stones. This helps users compare results with local records, clinic notes, or fitness apps.
Safe Use
Use the output as an educational guide. Avoid extreme diet targets. Choose realistic changes. Track progress over several weeks. Speak with a professional if you are pregnant, under eighteen, recovering from illness, or managing a medical condition. Healthy weight planning works best when it supports strength, energy, and long term habits.
Better Planning
Record the inputs before exporting. Save the PDF for a quick report. Save the CSV for spreadsheets or client files. Recheck the result after height, unit, or frame changes. Small input errors can change the range. Clear records make later reviews easier. Use notes too.
FAQs
Can centimeters directly convert to weight?
No. Centimeters measure height, not mass. This calculator estimates weight from height by using ideal body weight formulas, BMI ranges, frame size, and selected units.
Which formula should I choose?
Use the average option for a balanced estimate. Choose Devine, Hamwi, Robinson, or Miller when you need a specific reference method for comparison.
What does frame size change?
Frame size adjusts the estimate slightly. Small frame lowers the value by five percent. Large frame raises it by five percent. Medium keeps it unchanged.
Is BMI range included?
Yes. The calculator shows the weight range linked with BMI 18.5 to 24.9. It also calculates weight for your chosen target BMI.
Can I enter pounds or stones?
Yes. Current weight can be entered in kilograms, pounds, or stones. Output can also be displayed in those same units.
Why are formula results different?
Each formula uses a different base value and inch adjustment. The differences are normal because the equations were created from different reference assumptions.
Is this calculator for children?
No. These adult formulas are not designed for children. Children and teens should use age-specific growth charts and professional guidance.
Can I save the result?
Yes. After calculating, use the CSV button for spreadsheet data or the PDF button for a simple printable report.
