Formula Used
This calculator uses an independent food score formula. It is inspired by nutrition balance, not by any official diet brand formula.
Credits = Protein / 12 + Capped Fiber / 5
Raw Score = Base Score - Credits
Final Score = Raw Score × Food Category Multiplier
Remaining Budget = Daily Budget - Food Score + Activity Credit
Fiber credit is capped at 35 grams. This prevents very high fiber entries from making unrealistic scores. The final result is rounded to the nearest half point.
How to Use This Calculator
Enter the nutrition values from the food label. Use values per serving. Then enter the number of servings eaten. Choose the correct food category. Plain fruits, vegetables, lean proteins, and beans can receive reduced scores. Enter your daily score budget. Add activity minutes only when you want a daily balance estimate. Press the calculate button. The result appears above the form and below the header.
Food Score Planning Guide
Why Food Scores Help
Food scores make meal planning simple. They turn label numbers into one easy value. This helps you compare foods quickly. A lower score usually means the food is easier to fit into a daily plan. A higher score does not mean a food is forbidden. It means the portion should be watched more closely.
Balanced Nutrition Matters
The calculator reviews calories, saturated fat, sugar, total fat, sodium, protein, and fiber. Calories add energy cost. Saturated fat and sugar raise the score faster. Protein and fiber reduce the score because they support fullness. This creates a balanced view of each food. It also helps avoid judging meals by calories alone.
Use Portions Carefully
Serving size is very important. A snack may look light per serving. Two or three servings can change the result. Always check the label first. Then enter the amount you truly plan to eat. This gives a more useful daily estimate. It also makes restaurant and home meals easier to compare.
Plan a Flexible Day
You can use the daily budget field for meal planning. Enter your target score for the day. The calculator shows how much of that budget the food uses. It also shows the remaining balance after activity credit. This makes it easier to build breakfast, lunch, dinner, and snacks around one clear number.
Choose Better Swaps
Try comparing similar foods. Test grilled chicken against fried chicken. Compare plain yogurt with sweetened yogurt. Check fruit against dessert. Small changes can lower the score without removing flavor. More protein, more fiber, less added sugar, and smaller portions often improve the result.
Important Note
This tool is for general planning only. It is not medical advice. It is not an official diet program calculator. People with health conditions should follow guidance from a qualified professional. Use the result as a practical estimate, not as a strict rule.
FAQs
Is this an official diet brand calculator?
No. This is an independent calculator. It uses a custom nutrition-based score formula for general food planning.
Why do sugar and saturated fat increase the score?
Sugar and saturated fat can raise energy density. The formula adds weight to both, so richer foods receive higher scores.
Why do protein and fiber reduce the score?
Protein and fiber support fullness. The calculator gives them credit because filling foods can help with better portion control.
Can fruits and vegetables show zero?
Plain non-starchy vegetables can show zero. Plain fruit receives a strong reduction. Added sugar or sauces should be entered separately.
Should I enter cooked or raw nutrition values?
Use the values that match your actual food label or recipe. Cooked and raw foods can have different serving weights.
What is the daily score budget?
It is your personal planning target for the day. You can change it based on your own diet structure.
Does activity lower the food score?
No. Activity adds a separate credit to the daily balance. The food score itself stays based on nutrition.
Can I export my result?
Yes. After calculation, use the CSV or PDF buttons. They download a summary of your current result.
