Formula Used

The calculator uses the relationship that one ppm equals one milligram per liter.

Pool liters = gallons × 3.785411784

Free chlorine rise = target FC − current FC

Active chlorine grams = pool liters × ppm rise ÷ 1000

Liquid product grams = active chlorine grams ÷ effective strength fraction

Liquid fluid ounces = liquid milliliters ÷ 29.5735295625

Granular product grams = active chlorine grams ÷ available chlorine fraction

The liquid loss factor reduces the entered liquid strength before dosing.

Yes, if you know the water volume. Presets are only quick starting points. A custom gallon entry gives better results for partial fills or unusual pool shapes.

3. Does liquid chlorine lose strength?

Yes. Heat, sunlight, and long storage can weaken liquid chlorine. Use the loss field when the bottle is old or poorly stored. Fresh product can use zero loss.

4. Should I add the full dose at once?
