Formula Used
We compute a precise total in seconds from the input, then derive minutes and decimal hours:
- Total seconds = hours × 3600 + minutes × 60 + seconds
- Total minutes = total seconds ÷ 60
- Decimal hours = total minutes ÷ 60
- Decimal minutes (of an hour) = (total minutes mod 60) ÷ 60
Example: 1h 30m = 1×3600 + 30×60 = 5400s → 90 minutes → 1.5 decimal hours → 0.5 decimal minutes component.
